Northland Material Handling Inc., founded in 1967 by Mr. James Elliot and Mr. Ernest Hauca, has a permit to operate one of four landfills near Edmonton. The Class III landfill was established to accommodate a high demand for a site to dispose of construction and demolition waste near Edmonton. The landfill is located within Parkland County just past the Edmonton city limits on Highway 16A and 231 St. The site yields high quality sand that is sold to the housing and construction industry.
